Supervision is applied through various methods to ensure strict adherence to these rules.
Listed companies are required to disclose any material information immediately once they become aware of it. This disclosure must happen promptly, as it could impact securities’ value or investor decisions. Companies must also submit periodic reports, such as half-year and full-year reports, as well as quarterly reports for mining and exploration companies and some others. periodic reports must be submitted within the designated timeframes. Any major corporate actions must be backed by shareholder approval. Companies are expected to adhere to timetables for corporate actions and ensure that company announcements are lodged efficiently for market dissemination.

The PNGX Business Rules set the framework within which stockbrokers must operate, covering several critical areas, including financial requirements, membership criteria, trading standards, and conduct.
PNGX monitors stockbrokers to ensure that they comply with the Business Rules in their interactions with the exchange and investors. These rules guide the behaviour and operations of stockbrokers, aiming to promote fair and transparent trading activities, facilitate efficient transactions, meet statutory requirements, and protect investors. Supervision of Market Activities
Maintaining an orderly market is vital for PNGX, and this responsibility is carried out through regulation and supervision of trading activities. Key aspects of market supervision include adherence to standard and specific trading times, such as the normal trading hours from 10 am to 4 pm daily. Non-trading and non-settlement days, including public holidays, are also carefully regulated.
Only recognized traders are permitted to input trading messages via remote terminals, and only duly recognized participating organizations can access the market for trading.
PNGX ensures that the settlement period for trades is strictly T+2, and timetables for corporate actions are always followed.
Price monitoring is also an integral part of the regulatory process. When unusual price movements are detected, PNGX employs a “please explain” strategy, requesting explanations from relevant companies and stockbrokers. If the explanation is not satisfactory, further actions are taken, including potential referrals to the PNGX Markets Board for possible rule breaches or to the Securities Commission of PNG for a full investigation.
